Top-of-the-table clash in Marburg: first vs. second at Georg-Gassmann-Stadion
On June 21, gameday 6 takes us to Marburg for the standings' biggest clash: the undefeated league-leading Fulda Saints visit the in-form second-placed Marburg Mercenaries (4-1), who most recently shut out Mainz 9-0.
On Sunday, June 21, gameday 6 of the 2026 Regionalliga season is anything but a routine road trip for the Fulda Saints. At Georg-Gassmann-Stadion, the undefeated league leaders face the second-placed Marburg Mercenaries — first vs. second, a genuine top-of-the-table clash. Kickoff is at 3:00 PM.
We arrive with a perfect record: 44-22 vs. Marburg, 60-20 at Kassel, 32-19 in the top game at Mainz, and most recently a 72-14 rout of Wetzlar. Four games, four wins, first place in the group.
But this rematch carries weight. Since their opening-day loss in Fulda, the Mercenaries have become a different team: four straight wins, still unbeaten at home — and their 9-0 shutout of the Mainz Golden Eagles was a statement from their defense. Remember: we had to grind for our 32-19 win over that same Mainz side. Marburg come in at 4-1 and full of confidence.
We took the opening-day meeting 44-22 — but that was back in April, in Fulda. Now it's on Marburg's home turf, in front of their crowd, against a team with a point to prove and the group title in its sights. If you want to stay on top, these are exactly the games you have to win.
As always: The Marathon Continues. We want to protect our unbeaten record and send a clear message in the promotion race with another win. Every voice in the away section helps — kickoff June 21 at 3:00 PM, Georg-Gassmann-Stadion Marburg.
