Historic: Fulda Saints are promoted to the GFL 2

We did it. The Fulda Saints will play in the GFL 2 next season. Two wins from two games in the promotion playoff seal it — the biggest success in club history and our second promotion in a row.

Game 1 — Neu-Ulm Spartans 36-70 Fulda Saints (September 12). The playoff opened away against the Regionalliga Süd champions at the Dietrich-Lang-Sportzentrum in Neu-Ulm. Our offense was rolling from the start, and by halftime the Saints were well ahead. Neu-Ulm came out of the locker room fighting and played a spirited second half, but our defense held firm when it mattered. Final score: 70-36.

Game 2 — Fulda Saints 46-36 Leonberg Alligators (September 19). A week later, one win was enough. In front of around 600 fans at Sportzentrum Johannesberg, the Saints beat the Regionalliga Südwest champions 46-36 and clinched promotion at home.

It caps a season that was already historic in the Regionalliga Mitte: ten games, ten wins, the championship — and now the step up to the second Bundesliga. A huge thank you to head coach Jonas Heck and his staff, to every player, volunteer and sponsor, and to everyone who backed us this season.

The GFL 2 is a new level — and we can't wait. The Marathon Continues.
